It's Soccer Time

My youngest son plays soccer every fall and this year he needed new cleats.  We shopped at Academy and he had to have these white, yes white cleats.  Why not black?  Black would be so much easier to keep clean but I gave in and he now has white cleats.  He chose Adidas brand and so far they have been very comfortable for him.

All of the games are in the heat of the day usually around 11:00 am.  With my fair skin, I fight sunburns.  Even with sunscreen I still can get burned sitting through an hour game so I purchased this sunhat that I plan to use during the games.  I found this on one of the Etsy shops.  I think she did a great job.

Practice started last week and the first game is next week.  It is tough balancing soccer practice and games for my youngest with football practice and games for my oldest.  To say the least I am busy and the only free taxi in town.  Below is Jake on the way to the first practice of this year.  Loving fall and all this ball.

Avery Claire is Here

Around 1:30 AM Saturday night, the phone rang.  It was my MIL and she said my SIL was in recovery  from emergency surgery.  She had been sick all day at work and after she came home the pain was unbearable so they rushed her to the emergency room.  My SIL was 9 months pregnant and was scheduled for induction the next Sunday.  By the time she arrived at the emergency room she was 9 cm dilated.  The baby was in some distress so they performed an emergency C-section.  At that time, there was no news on the baby other than they were working on her.  I called my mom to sit with our boys and we rushed to the hospital.  By the time we got there my MIL had received an update on the baby.  She is/was PERFECT.  My SIL was still in recovery and was going to be ok also.  What a scare.  I washed and gowned up and went in and saw the baby.  She is a doll.  She has a head full of hair and was sleeping peacefully.  We waited for them to move my SIL to her room.  We visited with her for a few minutes then headed off to her house to pick up her daughter , Riley, who is 17 months old.

Riley stayed with me until today.  I am not used to little girls but she was so much fun.  She calls me Aunt Jo Jo.  We played, watched movies, and I painted her toe nails.  I was amazed at how still she was while I painted them.  I gave her a choice of 3 colors and she went for the blue.  I sent this picture to her mom in the hospital.  It is quiet today with her gone and I already miss her.  She is going to have to come stay with me more often.  With a blink of an eye I know they will be grown.

G-Unit's Birthday Party

A couple weekends ago our cousin who we call G-unit turned 10.  His party was at the movie theatre.  They had a party room setup for us to have cake, chips and dip and for him to open presents after the movie.  We saw Smurfs 2, 3D.  It was a cute movie for the kids.  Popcorn, coke and a snack were served to the kids during the movie.  The seats were reserved for the party in the center of the theatre so it didn't matter we were a little late getting all the kids to their seats.  After the movie everyone headed to the party room where G-unit had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party.  The cake was so cute.

The kids had a great time.  After G-unit opened his presents the staff gave us a behinds the scenes tour of the movie theatre.  I love movies and often wondered exactly how they work.  Now everything is computerized and they have large projectors set on timers to automatically play the movies.  The bulb is so hot if you put your hand in front of the lens shown on the right you would have instant burns.  It is an extremely high watt bulb.

They also showed us a glimpse into the old days of theatre with the reels and film.

The tour guide told us the new projectors cost close to $100,000.  This particular movie theatre had 16.  I enjoyed the tour and learned something new.  I think the kids enjoyed it also.  Good idea for birthday parties if you have one upcoming.

After the party and some shopping, our family stopped by Chill for some yogurt.   They gave Jake a balloon dog with his yogurt, ha ha.  I chose salted caramel pretzel yogurt and it was delicious.  As usual, Joel and Jake did not eat all of theirs.

We had a good day with friends and family and G-unit had a great 10th birthday....

JAWBONE BIG JAMBOX Review--$50 savings

This summer while outside swimming I wanted the ability to easily access iTunes music from my iPhone.   I searched on-line, read reviews and watched YouTube videos for the most recommended portable wireless speaker out there.  I settled on the Jawbone, BIG JAMBOX.

I could not be more satisfied.  We have enjoyed it all summer.  It is extremely easy to use.  I did not have problems linking it to my phone.  The bluetooth worked without a hitch.  I did notice when I walk  my phone further away from the speaker it starts to lose the signal but that is to be expected.  It can be controlled by my phone or by the controls on top.  The charge has held for at least 12 hours.  It has a very crisp, clear sound.  It can be turned up loud enough to be heard all around my back yard while everyone is swimming.  It packs a big punch for a small box.  You can also use it as a speaker phone.  It supports voice command but I have not tried it yet.  You can design your own in an array of colors.  While one of my friends was over she was sold and now has one of her own.  I also love the portability.  The speaker fits perfectly in my Keep-it-Caddy from Thirty-One.  I can throw it in the bag along with my sunscreen, phone and towel and head out to the pool.  LOVE it.

Right now they are offering a Back to School savings of $50.00.  Regular $299.99, currently $249.99.  For a limited time.

Super Soul Sunday

I follow Lakewood church on Instagram and saw this last night.  It stated that over 500 people were being baptized.  Isn't this so sweet.  Look how thrilled Joel Osteen is as he is doing this.  He said when I saw him in church that he always smiles and he was telling the truth.  I guess that is because he is so happy.  Wouldn't you love to be there with them experiencing this?  I would have.  I don't know who the little boy is but he has been blessed.

I have some short clips from the service we attended back in June.  I will share with you here.  I will start with a clip from his prayer.

The next is a short clip from his sermon.

I will finish where he started with his joke.  He starts each sermon with a joke.  If you've ever watched him you know he sticks to a pattern.  This one was pretty good.

On a totally different subject but relaxing for the soul, as Oprah would say on her Super Soul Sunday show, enjoy this short clip of Disney World ducks.  They are walking around and you can see the beautiful gardens surrounding them.  That is Jake enjoying a popsicle.  Wish I was there now.  Enjoy your Sunday and be thankful for your blessings....relax.

Don't forget to join my site over on the right side bar, g+ this if you liked it and follow me please.

Back to School

It is that time....back to school.  I registered both kids a couple of weeks ago and have dreaded this day since.  I have no idea why they are starting school so early this year.  Usually we start back a week or so later in August.  It is so hot in southern MS and with the humidity it feels much hotter.  I know it is hard on the kids and teachers.  Not only did they start school earlier in the month, they are starting the elementary school day 10 minutes earlier.  I do not have any clue why they would start school 10 minutes earlier.  What possibly could be learned in an additional 10 minutes of school each day?  My oldest son has football practice every evening after school until 5:00 or 5:30 PM.  By the end of each day, I have made 3 trips to school.  Thank goodness we do not live far away from the school.  I should probably make them ride the bus.  I always did until my cousins were old enough to drive and I survived.

The school supply list this year was long to say the least.  I do not mind buying school supplies but what is aggravating is when I go to purchase them and they are sold out at the store.  I live near a Super Walmart and other than some dollar stores it is really the only major store around unless I drive 45-50 miles.  Everyone in the county goes to the same schools and the population is known, so I do not understand why the store is not stocked with the supplies necessary for our area.  Walmart even has the school supply lists available for you to pick up, so they know what the schools are requiring for the students.  After that rant, it is evident I was not able to purchase everything on their lists but this is what I was able to buy.  I will have to go back to the store in the next week and hope they have the remaining items in stock.  I ordered Jake's book bag and lunch box from Pottery Barn Kids.  I had them monogram both.  I ordered Joel's book bag directly from Under Armour and his lunch box from Lands End.

Before they left I made them pose for a picture.  Their enthusiasm is underwhelming.  I have to admit I felt pretty much the way they looked.  I am not happy about school starting back.  It is not that I don't value education but I love the boys being home with me and spending time with them.  The summer was way too short.

For us, summer is over and the daily grind begins.

Products I LOVE

This summer it has been sizzling down south.  The temperature outside has hit 108 F and with the heat index it has felt closer to 115 F.  I could not have made it through this heat wearing my hair down.  I have used these hair clips all summer long.  The two larger clips I purchased in Chicago at a mall kiosk last summer.  The smaller clip I purchased at Ulta.

I like to watch Jennifer on "My House Wife Life" on YouTube.  She also has a blog Organized Jen  She has nice skin and referred the Origins line along with the Shiseido facial cottons.  She also recommended the Clarisonic Plus.  I purchased the Origins products and I am now sold.  I think my skin is more balanced, smooth and clear than it has been in a long time.

Every night, first I use A Perfect World Age-defense treatment lotion with White Tea.  I then apply a very small amount of the Plantscription Anti-aging eye cream around my entire eye area.  Next, I apply the Plantscription Anti-aging serum.  If I am having extra dry skin I will use the High Potency Night-A-Mins every other night.  During the day I apply A Perfect World SPF 25 Age-defense moisturizer with White Tea.  Other than the eye cream, I apply each product to my face and neck area.

If possible, I will never use a cotton ball again.  I am a Shiseido convert.  If you use one of these facial cottons you will be one too.  Thank you Jennifer.  I use one cotton to apply A Perfect World Age-defense treatment lotion each night.  These are so soft and luxurious.  I buy these from Sephora.

Now for the Clarisonic Plus, for the investment vs. return I probably would not purchase it again.  I read the directions and I think I am using it as directed but every time I use it the next day I have a minor break-out.  I use it only on my face.  Maybe I am not using it frequently enough but once I have this break-out I panic and don't use it for a couple of weeks.  It is safe to say I am only using it 2 or 3 times per month.  I have only successfully used it without a minor break-out maybe twice.  Anyone else experience this problem?  I have to admit my face does feel extremely clean after each use.  I do have the deep pore cleaning brush but I have not used it yet.  Maybe I will see more benefit when I try it.

My favorite polish the entire summer has been Fruit Machine by Butter London.  I have painted my toes this pretty pink all summer.  It is a matte pink that covers solid.  My favorite perfumes right now are Coach Poppy and Pink Sugar.  I like the Coach Poppy but I love the Pink Sugar.  If you like the smell of cotton candy and love to smell like cotton candy then this perfume is for you.  I have to be careful with candles and perfumes because certain scents will trigger a migraine headache.  Both of these perfumes do not cause any problems for me.  As you can see, I have almost used the entire bottle of Pink Sugar and I purchased it in May.  I will be buying some more.  All of this was purchased at Ulta.

My Oldest Baby is Home

Finally, the week is over.  I think this has been the longest week ever.  If you read one of my previous posts you know my oldest son left for youth camp in North Carolina last Sunday.  We were all missing him so much.  Since this was his first official time away from home we decided to have him a welcome home party.  He had no idea I had arranged for our family to gather at the house to await his arrival.  I ordered some pizza and a cake and made a sad attempt at a "Welcome Home" sign.

When he walked in the door he was totally surprised and exhausted.  I also think he was happy to be home.  His little brother missed him so much.  That is him hiding in the first picture and jumping up in the second.

Instead of giving me or his dad a hug when he walked in he went straight to Maw maw.  She babysat him for years while I worked so he has always been a Maw maw's boy.

I am a proud Momma and happy to have my sweet boy back home.

While he was away I took the opportunity to clean his room.  Normally, I leave this task to him since he is 13, almost 14.  I went in nose clipped and gloves on.  I cleaned for 4 hours.  I threw trash away, dusted, organized, picked up clothes and vacuumed.  The room is shining clean now and I have the pictures to prove it.  I am going to print these and give them to him so he can see how clean looks.  We will see how long he keeps it this way.

OMG, Oh My HOG

This was my yard after the landscaper left 2 months ago.  I was so happy with the results that I took a picture and posted it on Instagram.

This is my yard now.

We saw the damage being made to the flower beds but didn't know the culprit until my oldest son caught the little boogers red handed.  There are two of them.  He snapped a picture of them from my kitchen window so I apologize for the quality.

It is difficult to see from this picture but they are baby WILD hogs!

You have to admit they are kind of cute but my gosh, my flower beds look like there have been hogs rolling around in them, touché.  You know the saying, "Where there are babies there is a momma".  Grown wild hogs can be mean and unpredictable.  Now, we have to look both ways before going outside.  These little guys are coming back every night and causing more torment.  Where is Honey Boo Boo's mom when you need her?  I saw an episode from last season where someone ran over a wild hog and called Momma June to come pick it up for the cooking.  Anyone want any free bacon?  I know bad jokes.

Enough of the bad jokes.  We live next to a busy road and there aren't any hog farms nearby so, I do not understand why these animals are hanging in our yard.  Hopefully we will solve our wild hog problem soon and get the yard back to normal.

*No animals were harmed in the photographing or documenting of this post.
